BIO

My Story

I’m Nerissa Barker (she/her), based in Melbourne. I wear many hats; Mother, artist and marketer, just to name a few.

I pride myself in being a highly motivated, results-driven person with excellent written and verbal communication skills. I have 18 months experience in a marketing role, presently working as a Marketing and Administration Assistant for a commercial real estate agency, GA Industrial & Commercial. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Media and Communication at Swinburne University of Technology majoring in Advertising with a co-major in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing.

When it comes to communications I thoroughly enjoy the process, looking at the end goal and putting into motion the steps required to get there. From establishing the basics and ensuring a company has the fundamentals of their online presence to my favourite part, making a business stand out. This is achieved by ensuring their copy and imagery truly represent them, their vision and that everything they’re putting out into the world is working for them to achieve their goals.

“The process is the most important part of the journey” has always been a quote I’ve lived by and it’s what makes me so passionate about what I do in helping people and businesses achieve their goals through strategic marketing campaigns.

My strengths include a proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, MAC OS and multiple CRM and POS systems. I’m creative, I think outside the box and put my imagination to effective use to come up with unique marketing techniques.

In my spare time my interests include spending time with my family, bushwalking and exploring the beach. I’m also passionate about theatre, art and photography, regularly visiting the museum, theatre and galleries.  I enjoy painting, I work with acrylics and my favourite style is flow art. I also love photography, in both my personal life and in business. The quote ‘A picture tells a thousand words’ isn’t for nothing. Ask my family, I drag them along to annual family photoshoots and never stop taking pictures of them myself.

The purpose of this portfolio is to showcase my work.
